Day 0 - Preparing for take off

Greetings from Blogsville!

Tomorrow morning I am heading out to the USA with pal Jannick. I'll be writing this blog for the duration of the month-long trip, which will take us from East Coast heights such as 'La Pomme Grande' to barbecue pot New Orleans, Louisiana, and finally down to the beaches of Florida - prime opportunity to cultivate my factor 50 albino tan.

After a nine-day triangular train trip around the North East, we'll be hiring a car from D.C. and driving the rest of the way: on the road like a cheesy coming-of-age straight-to-DVD movie. Hopefully our narrative will be more robust.

Stop number one is Boston, Massachusetts; home to Fenway Park and the Red Sox, Harvard University, America's first public school (1635) and first subway system (1897), the 12th largest economy in the world, clam chowder, and a tea party (wiki).

The nighttime riverscape looks sumptuous, and with numerous historical boats moored at the piers, a stroll down to the harbour ought to serve as superlative antidote to our bleary-eyed aeroplane-induced stasis. As if to spite such glorious views, the 'brutalist' town hall looks like it was conceived to house comic-book superhero villains...

Betwixt Boston's beauty and brutalism we are seeking out parks, breweries, museums, views, and broad 'A' accents. And we'll hopefully get to try a bowl of that chowder!

'Chow' for now...
